Rebel Reid

Rebel Reid is a powerhouse Māori musician from Aotearoa, New Zealand. As the country's sole female lead guitarist, Rebel's journey through the world of music is nothing short of awe-inspiring. She proudly represents her Māori heritage with a passion that's infectious, infusing her unique blend of rock 'n' roll and country pop with an electrifying spirit.

Rebel's musical journey has taken her to iconic places and spaces. She's recorded her soul-stirring melodies at the legendary Village Studios in Los Angeles, where musical legends have left their indelible mark. As a member of the band Valkyrie, she ventured into the Nevada desert to film epic music videos, creating visuals as stunning and evocative as her music and has play at some of Aotearoa's top festivals such as Splore.

She dreams of making history as the first Māori artist to record a bilingual album at the historic Sun Records in Memphis, in 2024. It's a bold vision that embodies her commitment to bridging cultures and leaving a legacy that transcends borders.

Rebel Reid is more than just an artist; she's a force breaking down barriers, and she's here to share her Māori culture with the world. Her identity as a female lead guitarist reflects her commitment to diversity and inclusivity in the music industry. As her solo career blossoms, she's living up to the rock star name her mother gave her, a name that keeps her mother's memory alive through her music.
