With electronic beats, organic percussion, live guitars and deep harmonies, Huia’s set is a richly layered big bass sound with conscious lyrics in both te reo Māori, English and a touch of Spanish. Her latest tune 'Waka Huia' is a trap x Māori banger, #1 on RDU and over 40k plays on Youtube. In the World Music Ethnocloud Charts multiple times and boasting a video live shot at WOMAD24, she is on a path to open more channels for her unique sound.

 

As a producer, singer, songwriter and top liner both both solo and collaboratively, Huia is an award-winning artist and live sets music flows from ambient tunes, liquid DnB, through to dancehall bangers but also surprise acoustic sets. Her recent release WAKA HUIA V2 with artist Meta_ (PT) is one of many multi-lingual collaborations.

Performance highlights include performing at WOMAD24 with Rei at The Indigenous Music Summit in Tkaronto, Toronto, Canada and mainstage for Splore Festival (Aotearoa summer festival Sold Out 10,000 capacity). She has supported global artists such as 

‘Deep Forest’ and ‘Gaudi’ (EU), as well as the ‘Freestylers (UK)’ with ‘Baitercell’. As artist Rei's main DJ/singer she also gets to travel the world featuring on his sets.

 

With a new project ‘Kawakawa’ set to release a single every 6 weeks. So far

'Tīaho Aho and WAKA HUIA are out from the album of affirmation and empowerment.

 

One of the last year's highlight tracks has been ‘Te Whakapono’ with Rei, a banger that went all over the world. Before that was ‘Tui Tuia ō Whakapapa’ and with Sean Richards, where Huia was loving being in her electronic element again. ‘Tukua te Kūata’ and ‘Marama La Luna’, are her fans' favourites, keeping her sets musically fluid and dynamic.​​
