ALLANA Goldsmith is a Māori (NZ) contemporary vocal artist and singer-songwriter. Singing mostly in her indigenous language, Allana takes inspiration from a background in jazz vocal studies. Her eclectic taste in music is reflected through her many collaborations and cross-over genre music releases.
In 2022 under the artist collaborative Goldsmith Baynes (with Mark Baynes) she released a critically acclaimed Māori jazz album ‘E Rere Rā’. This group was featured live at the Aotearoa Music Awards (2021), singing the original song 'Tīpuna'. Supported by Waiata Anthems, their most streamed song is ‘Kore Rawa’, a funky blues that has over 70,000 streams on Spotify.
ALLANA’s artist highlights include being featured as the opening act at He Kete Waiata, Auckland ARTS FESTIVAL (2023), at the Auckland Town Hall. ALLANA was a finalist for Best Jazz Artist (2020), under the artist name ALCHEMY, featured song: Sensitive to a Smile, by Herbs, re-arranged by Kevin Field. Allana released an E.P. ‘The Wakakura Sessions’ in 2018, and her single He Rā ki Tua reached number 6 in the Māori Airplay Charts. Her single MATARIKI has over 40,000 streams on Spotify. Allana is working on an improvised avant-garde sound with artists 'WAIWHAI' (Māori instruments - taonga puoro) and Parks (modular synths).
ALLANA has featured at many of the major jazz festivals in Aotearoa as a headliner act. She has Sold Out many of her concerts, such as the Tauranga 57th National Jazz Festival 2019, a Tribute Show to Ella & Sarah’, and Summer Serenade: Jazz in the Garden at Couldrey House 2020. She is also a staple artist for Waiheke, Queenstown and Matariki Jazz Festivals.
'MANAAKITIA' and 'Pīpīwharauroa' are her newest singles this year (2024) outside of the jazz genre alondside stunning music videos. ALLANA was recently featured in Rolling Stone online magazine, music section: Song You Need to Know: Allana Goldsmith, (Sept 16th 2024).
